ANNUAL MEETING OF SOCIETY The annual "meeting of the North Otago Horticultural Society was held on weanesday night, when the president (Mr P. W. Hargreaves) was in the chair. Commenting on the annual report and balance sheet, the president stated that a successful year had been spent. He said there was a shortage of halls in Oamaru suited to the society’s requirements, and h° expressed the hope that in the near future a horticultural hall would • be built. Memorial Cups Mrs Buckland. widow of the late Mr A. C. Buckland, intimated that she was.presenting a msmorlal crip for competition in the pansy and viola classes. The president said that Mr Buckland had been an ardent exhibitor at the shows, but he had never collected his prize money. He had also contributed to the funds of the society. As a .memorial to the late Mr Joseph Hambley the society decided to contribute a cup for competition in the dahlia classes. Special Awards ' During the meeting the following cups, trophies and awards were presented by Mrs P. W. Hargreaves:—Mabel Sutton Cup, Miss Carling: sweet pea cup. Miss W.
