VALEDICTORY
MR AND MRS J. A. MELDRUM The St. Paul's Haeremai Club members extended a farewell social to Mr and Mrs John A. Meldrum, prior to their departure for Christchurch. A presentation was made on behalf of the members by Mr W. J. Giffin, and speakers were Messrs J. C. Kirkness and W. Kinder. The Rev A. Marshall also made a presentation to the guests on behalf of the office-bearers of St. Paul’s. Mr and Mrs Meldrum had long been associated with the Haeremai Club, and it was largely due to their encouragement that the club was formed in 1931. ' The programme for the -evening was a reading of “ The Dover Road,” produced by Mrs J. A. Meldrum, those taking part being Messrs E. Monteith, H. C. Cameron, W. J Giffin, H. J. Coker, R. Tillage Misses C. M. Chisholm. B. Kirkness, I. Wilson, M. Hall. The host and hostess for the evening were Mr and Mrs L. W Williams. \ MR 3 AND MRS D. LUDEMANN Friends of Mr and Mrs D. Ludemann, Papakaio, assembled to extend a farewell to these popular residents in the Papakaio Hall recently. Mr J. Skinner spoke on behalf of the Welfare Committee, and made a presentation to the guests, and Mrs R. Borrie spoke on behalf of the ladies of the district. Mr Ludemann suitably replied
