TWO SALVAGE CLAIMS

RESCUE OF AMERICAN FARMER (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 12. The salvage prize money claim for the American Farmer will probably be between £150,000 and £175,000. The Daily Telegraph says this estimate was given by experts after a day of intensive work on the ship. Solicitors acting for the owners of United States Lines are preparing a salvage claim on behalf of the crew of the American Ranger. Both this claim and that of the crew of the Elizabeth will be decided by an Admiralty Court.

Divers found about 7000 tons of wheat still lying in the flooded hold, and much of it was usable only for stock feed. It is estimated that 3000 tons of food carried has been lost or damaged.
