HOCKEY SUB-ASSOCIATION

FORTNIGHTLY MEETING

Mr E. Coker presided, and there were also present Messrs R. Brown, K. Thompson, I. Sherwin, P. Connors, H. Dowdle, C. RawstCrn, L. D. Hedges, M. Tonkin, and the secretary, Mr L. Blair, at the fortnightly meeting of the North Otago Men's Hockey Sub-association on Mondaynight.

The. Otago Hockey Association wrote asking if it would be possible to play two games at Oamaru on July 20, one against South Canterbury and the other against North Otago. The association also advised that the South Island selector would be present on that date. It was agreed to accept the offer, and ask for furher particulars regarding arrangements. It was decided to apply to the North Otago Rugby Union for the use of Takaro Park on this date if the two games were played, but if only one match was to be played, to apply for the use of the Oval, ana piay inis game as a curtain raiser. Mr C. Hawstorn was appointed manager of the North Otgo team, and Messrs N. Pinder and H. Hore were recommended as referees

i The following registrations were approved:—D. Campbell (Oamaru) and J. Bain (Tainui). Delegates were warned by the president 'against the practice of “ picking up ” players on the grounds to fill in a team. Clubs would have to be particularly wary of visitors, and the association could not tolerate the playing of unregistered players. The South Canteroury Hockey Association requested that a representative game be played at a later date. It was decided that the date be August 17 or later, the match to oe piayeci at Timaru. It was further decided to write to the Southland and Ashburton associations with a view to arranging representative games. It was also decided to play a Town v. country match on the first convenient Saturday.

The Kurow Hockey Club was granted permission to enter a team in the handicap competition. It was decided to place this team in the second division, with a handicap of plus seven. The following is the draw for Saturday. —First division: Tainui White v. Waimate, No. 1, 3 p.nt.; Oamaru White v. Tainui Black, No. l, t. 45 p.m.; Oamaru Black, a bye Second division: Rovers v Oamaru, No. 222, 3 p.m.; ICakanui II v. Kakanui I 3 p.m., Kakanui; Kurow, a bye. Mr C. Kawstorn was added to the Postponement uoininittee.

The selectors have chosen the following to go into training for the representative fixture on July 20 (abbreviations used are, Oamaru (O.), Tainui (T.), Rovers (R.), Kakanui <K.):—L. Blair (O.), G.
