DREDGE OTAKOU

HIRE TO OAMARU HARBOUR BOARD AVAILABLE IN AUGUST The Oamaru Harbour Board yesterday received advice from the Otago HarbourBoard that owing to certain alterations in the programme, the Otakou could be made available for Oamaru immediately after her annual overhaul, which should be completed about the middle of August, and for a period up to three months as might be mutually agreed upon. In 1940 the dredge was at Oamaru tor about two months and a-half, costing tnc board £Bs44. Costs had increased, and it would probably be safe to say, stated the letter, that the £IO,OOO which the board had available would now provide for approximately 10 weeks. The Otago Board forwarded a draft agreement for hire. The chairman (Mr W. M. Coper) said the board was fortunate in securing the dredge, especially just after it had been released from the repair dock. Mr D. S. Bain said it was gratifying to see the matter had reached that stage, and he moved that a dredging committee be formed. The following were appointed. Messrs W. M. Cooper, J. B. Chapman. D. Williams and D. S. Bain.
