A BRIGHT DISPLAY

KAIKORAI BEATS TRAINING COLLEGE There was some good football at Bishopscourt, where Kaikorai beat Training College by 11 points to 4. Both teams were eager to “ spin ” the ball, and the result was a game that was fast and consistently iniciesung. There was little between the two teams, but the greater st.'-ny.n auu stamina ot the Kaikorai forwards enabled the hill side to dominate the last. 2u minutes ot play. The forwards of both sides staged many effective loose rushes and got the ball out to their backs fairly smartly, and it was the excellent football played by J. Haig, behind the Kaikorai strum, that made Kaikorai’s performance in this respect appear to be the better. Haig played almost faultless football, but although D. Murdoch, R. Jaffray and G. Irvine ail made promising breaks, the line as a whole suffered from a marked tendency to crowding. The Training College five-eighths, A. H. Ingram and L. W. Deas, were less open to criticism on this score, but the quickbreaking Kaikorai forwards frequently upset them. R. Orr, the College fullback, fielded and kicked very safely, and W. Woods gave Kaikorai good service in the same position. L. Aitken paved the way for Kaikorai's first try, carrying on when tacklers stood oft him and starting passing from which I. W. Johnston scored. Misfielding on Training College’s line enabled Haig to score the second try, and N. Mowat scored in similar style after Kaikorai passing had broken down- Murdoch converted one try. Training College’s four points came from a good field goal by L. ColmoreWilliams. Both Murdoch and Deas had to go off with leg injuries late in the game. Mr J. M. Briggs was the referee.
