A SCRAPPY GAME
In a game full of hard hitting and scrappy play, and marked by a lack of combination on both sides, Albany defeated High School Old Boys by four goals to three. The nature of the play may well have been the result of the uneven state of the ground at Tonga Park, which a player described as being “ rather like a scenic railway.”
About 15 minutes after half time N. Mong scored for Albany from a rush up the field, and a few minutes later Robertson scored. Old Boys’ first goal came from St. John. At half time the score was two goals to one in Albany's favour On the resumption of play Old Boys attacked strongly, and narrowly missed two chances. Robertson went through from the twenty-five, beating several players to find the net. By the end of the game Gurr and St. John h3d scored one goal each for Old Boys, and Rennick had scored Albany’s fourth goal. The referees were Messrs H. Sew Hoy and C. Grey.
