MASSAGE PROFESSION
FREEDOM OF PRACTICE WANTED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 12. “The massage profession feels that there is just as much need for individualistic freedom of practice for massage as there is for medicine if the best interests of the patients are to be considered,” said Mr G. B. Abel. Dominion president of the New Zealand Trained Masseurs’ Association. Mr Abel said that, in a statement made on Tuesday, Mr E. H. Luke, chairman of the council of the British Medical Association, had expressed the opinion that the clinic system was not suitable for private medical practice, but said it was felt there was a future for the clinic system for other work, including massage. This was contrary to the opinion of the massage profession.
