, coop PRICES AT AUCTION There was an exceptionally large attendance yesterday at the opening day of the auction sale of household furniture, office equipment and other articles at “De Driekleur,” Ballantyne road, Waverley, recently occupied by the Netherlands Indies Welfare Organisation for Evacuees. A ” Kelvinator ” refrigerator was keenly sought after, being knocked down for £l4O. and a bread and bacon cutter realised £IOO, while a Withers’s fireproof safe found a purchaser at £4l. Wardrobes sold from £5 to £5 10s, and there was spirited bidding for single beds, which realised up to £3 17s 6d. Wool mattresses brought up to £3 each. There was a keen demand for most of the articles submitted, particularly for those in short supply. The sale, which is being conducted by Messrs Park, Reynolds and Co., Ltd., will be continued this morning, when many lots of napery will be offered.
