PERSIAN DISPUTE
SETTLEMENT REACHED AZERBAIJAN BACK IN FOLD (Rec. 1.15 a.m.) TEHERAN, June 11. The Azerbaijan problem has been settled on the basis of a seven-point programme, drawn up by Ghavam Sultaneh, said a Foreign Office spokesman. Prince Firouz left for Azerbaijan by a Russian plane “ to work out the final details for accepting the province back into the National Government.” The spokesman added that the settlement with Azerbaijan was reached by a series of cable messages, letters and secret conversations between the commissions in Teheran and Tabriz. The Azerbaijan Army and “ the people’s warriors ” would be taken into the Persian Army and the gendarmerie. The Central Government would appoint M. Pishevari Governor-General of Azerbaijan.
