NO GREAT RUSH

DEMAND FOR PETROL QUIET WEEK FOR RESELLERS Members of the executive committee of the Automobile Association (Otago), at the monthly meeting of the executive last night, endorsed a message from the South Island Motor Union to the Minister of Supply, Mr D. G. Sullivan, expressing appreciation of his efforts towards making more petrol available, and the hope that the new system would be successful. The chairman, Mr H. S. Reid, said it was very gratifying that at last motorists were free from the restrictions of the coupon system “ Most motorists are still obliged to exercise much care,” he said, “ or they will find themselves without tyres to run on. I do not think there will be any great rush for petrol. Last week was the leanest experienced by petrol resellers in Dunedin for some time.” he added, The reason probably was that many motorists had filled up their tanks with “ the coupon petrol ” at the end of May.

In a short discussion, it was mentioned that the increase of traffic in the city would involve much closer attention to parking. Many motorists parked their vehicles carelessly, causing unnecessary damage to other vehicles.
