OBJECTION TO UMPIRE
MASTERTON DISPUTE SETTLED
(P.A.) MASTERTON, Jan. 3. Some weeks ago the Lansdowne senior cricket team, winner of the championship last season, was suspended for the rest of the season for refusing to go on the field under a certain umpire appointed by the Wairarapa Umpires’ Association and approved by the Wairarapa Cricket Association. The incident caused a sensation in local cricket circles. The Lansdowne Club, asking for removal of the disqualification, has withdrawn all its correspondence concerning the matter and expressed regret, promising that such conduct shall not be repeated. In the circumstances the Cricket Association has decided to lift the suspension and allow the Lansdowne seniors to compete again from next Saturday.
