FIVE-POINTER FOR NORTH END SIDE Albion- Y.M.C.A.-North-East Valley continued its innings with three wickets down for 84 in reply to Dun-edin-Carisbrook B’s total of 220 in the match at Tonga Park. Both sides were depleted. Albion Combined was without the services of R. Silver, L. D. Smith, and F. W. Bellamy, and Dun-edin-Carisbrook B was without A.. Knight, J. G. Young, V. Donnelly, and 5 Hambleton, all of whom had played on the first day. Albion Combined took its score to 291 against bowling which never looked dangerous. R. Peart and E. Watson, the not-out men, were associated in a partnership which added 68 for the fourth wicket, both batting soundly. Watson was the first to go, after scoring 30 in 65 minutes, a 6 off D. McDonald’s bowling and three 4’s being among his scoring strokes. Peart went on to make 52 before being out leg before wicket to Tobin. He drove well on both sides of the wicket and hit three 4’s, his innings occupying 100 minutes. L. Watson, who followed these players, batted freely for 54, driving the frequent half volleys vigorously and hitting five 4’s. He retired unbeaten. I. Jones compiled a useful 27. G. Tobin was the most successful bowler for Dunedin-Carisbrook B, securing three wickets for 71 runs. In the remaining hour DunedinCarisbrook B batted a second time and lost three wickets quickly with only 28 runs on the board. Tobin was out before scoring, and R. Caradus and A. Kerr were caught after each had made nine. J. O’Sullivan and McDonald played out time, the former driving
cleanly for 30, while McDonald was more cautious in scoring ,12. At stumps Dunedin-Carisbrook B had three wickets down for 66, and Albion-Y.M.C.A.-North-East Valley won on the first innings.
