Sir Walter gave a good performance to win the 3min 43sec class trot at the Canterbury Owners and Breeders' Association’s trials at New Brighton last week. Starting smartly from the 24yds mark, he was handy to Tolerate, the leader, for most of the way, and when brought out for a run in the straight he responded in fine style to win nicely. Billy Loyal showed improved form to take third placing after coming from a long way back over the last half-mile. The event for maiden pacers was won by Kapai, from M. B. Edwards’s stable, with Great Artist second and Renown's Pride third. Of the others. Pointsman and Colin Waters attracted attention by solid displays. In the Mood pleased her admirers with a good performance to win the 3min 20sec class race from the 60yds mark. She commenced her run in the back straight and carried on to win without being extended from Golden Shadow, with Loyal King close up. War Form, a stablemate of In the Moood, also rail a fine race, and this bracket will probably be hot favourites for the Auckland Trotting Cup on December 27. The 3min 30sec class pace provided an interesting contest. Worthy Gold winning from Dillondale, with Bonny Bridge and Sunny Glen close up. On this occasion Dillondale started smartly from the 48yds mark, and a repetition of this form should soon win him a race. Bonny Bridge also impressed after making a break at one stage of the race, and his finishing run suggests that he should be prominent over the holiday period. Indian Arrow showed a return to his best

form to lead his stablemate Lee Berry, home in the 3min 34sec class trot. The consistent Royal Dale gave her usual solid display to finish close up in third place.
