THE “UNTOUCHABLES”
URGED TO ORGANISE BOMBAY, Dec. 13. India’s 70,000,000 “ untouchables ” were urged to organise themselves into a separate political entity by Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar during an election speech at Nagpur. Addressing a crowd of 50,000 “untouchables,” Dr Ambedkar said the Congress campaign, for the removal of untouchability was an utter failure.’ Congress failed to call a conference of minority leaders for discussion on the allocation of power in the Central Government to be set up when the British left India; instead it ignored the very existence of other parties and claimed the transfer of power to itself.
