OAMARU JOCKEY CLUB
MEETING OF COMMITTEE (Special) OAMARU, Dec. 14. Dr A. Smith Morton presided at the monthly meeting of the committee of the Oamaru Jockey Club this afternoon. There were also present Dr E, E. Butler, and Messrs J. H. Main, B. Gardiner, W. 0. Williams. C. H. Smith. S. Lee, I. Mitchell, and W. E. Aubrey. . The president said it was gratifying to note that 236 nominations had been received for the New Year meeting. The question of the acceptances for the two trotting events being over the safety limit was discussed. It was decided that there would be no balloting, and that, if divisions 'had to be run, the stakes for the two events would be increased to £IOO for the winner and £2O for second, and to pay no third stakes in either division. / information was received from the Railways Department that trains from Timaru and Kurow would be accelerated to passenger services on January 2. Owing to the indisposition of the club s starter (Mr C. Geisler), it was decided to obtain the services of Mr P. D. McNab for the January meeting.
