DUNEDIN NORTH SCHOOL

EXHIBITION OF WORK The Dunedin North Intermediate School held its Parents’ Day and exhibition of work during the week. There was a large attendance of parents and friends, who were welcomed by the principal, Mr D. Forsyth. Mr Forsyth, in a brief address, stressed the value of co-operation between teacher and parent at all times, and urged the need for a closer relationship. The demonstrations included a mannequin parade of gills, each of whom had made in the dressmaking room the dress she was wearing, and a puppet presentation of “ Cinderella.” For this presentation the stage, settings, draperies, puppets, and costumes were all the work of the pupils themselves, and gave the visitors an idea of the possibilities of a practical correlation of craft, art, and drama work. Later, the parents visited the various classrooms where they inspected the work displayed. This included all kinds of craft work, art work, and needlework, as well as the regular written work of the classes in the fundamental subjects.
