CAPTAIN OF CANADIAN SHIP ILL ON ARRIVAL IN PORT (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 14. A former New Zealander, Captain R. T. When the Green Gables Park sailed on Wednesday for Vancouver, Captain Ingram had to be left behind, and Captain A. T. Norton, a retired Union Steam Ship Company master, was placed in command. Born in Gisborne, Captain Ingram was educated at King's College and served his apprenticeship with the Union Company in the Dartford. He served with the New Zealand forces in France in the First World War and later with the Royal Navy. He later served with various Canadian shipping lines and made a few trips to New Zealand. During the Second World War he was on Atlantic convoy duty with the Royal Canadian Navy. His last voyage to New Zealand in the Green Gables Park was his first' visit for some years.
