ARMY DESERTER
SENTENCED TO YEAR’S HARD LABOUR (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 14. Private Maurice Joseph Hferk, aged 27, on a charge jf desertion, has been sentenced by a district court martial to 12 months’ imn.-isonment with hard labour. Herk, who had pleaded guilty to the charge, absented himself from Glenbervie Camp, Nortfc Auckland, on December 27, 1942, ana was arrested in civilian clothes in Auckland on November 23, 1945.
