VALUES REMAIN FIRM (Special) OAMARU, Oct. 2 There was a large yarding of fat cattle and sheep at to-day's Waiareka sale, and a medium varding of store sheep. There was little difference in prices as compared with those of last week. Quotat*<FaSt Cattle. —Best steers, £lB 10s to £2l; medium. £l6 to £l7 10s; light, £l3 to £l4 15s; best heifers, £l4 to £l6; medium. £lO 5s to £l2 10s; light, down to £9; best cows, £l2 to £l4 15s; medium, £9 to £lO 15s; and light, down to £7 10s. Fat Sheep.—Best wethers, 50s to 565; medium, 43s to 48s Gd; light, 38s to 40s; best ewes, 46s to 51s 6d; best aged ewes, 39s to 435; and medium, 33s to 36s 6d. Store Sheep.—Ewe hoggets, 27s 6d to 32s 9d. A pen of extra good wether hoggets brought 32s 4d. while other wether hoggets made from 25s 8d to 28s. Dairy cows and heifers at profit made £9 to £l2; spring calvers, £6 to £B. Pigs.—There was a big yarding and a keen demand. Best made 40s to 51s; medium, 34s to 38s; and small, 20s to 325.
