PRICES SHOW IMPROVEMENT CP.A.) INVERCARGILL, Sept. 25. The fat sheep yarding of 916 bead at the Lorneville sale to-day was composed of roughly equal proportions of ewes and wethers. The quality was not as nigh as that of last week, but sheep of all classes were in demand. Prices showed an improvement of 2s a head on last week's good rates. Good-quality wethers realised 54s 6d to 57s Gd; medium-weights. 50s to 52s 6d; light-weights, 45s to 47s 6d: unfinished sorts, 38s 6d to 41s; and small, 33s 6d to 355. Good-quality joung ewes made 44s 6d to 475; Sood-quality ewes 42s to 43s 6d; medium. 38s Gd to 41s; light-weights, 34s to 36s Gd; and aged and unfinished sorts, 30s to 325. The fat cattle yarding, which was largely composed of medium-Quality and unfinished sorts, was much smaller than usual. Competition was very keen, and prices showed an appreciation of from £2 to, in some cases, as mucli as £3 a head on last week's values. Good-quality heavy-weight bullocks realised up to £2B; medium-weights. £22 10s to £25; handyweights, £l9 10s to £2l; and lightweights, £l6 10s to £lB 10s Primequalitv heifers made up to £l9; handyweights, £l4 10s to £l6: and light and unfinished, £ll 10s to £l2 10s.
