KAITANGATA
Personal.—Mr D. P. Cockerill, who has retired from an executive position with the Kaltangata Coal Company, Ltd., leaves with a record of 35 years’ service. Born and educated at Waikouaiti, he worked on farms for some years before becoming Interested in gold dredging, which took him successively to Kelso, Waitahuna, and Waiporl. Another change of occupation was made when he accepted an appointment as a surveyor on the staff of the Railways Department at Dunedin. From there, he went to Kaitangata. Mr and Mrs Corkerill have taken up residence in Dunedin.
Basketball.—At the annual meeting of the Basketball Club recently, it was decided to enter only one team (A Grade) in the South Otago Competition this season.
