FUNCTIONS OF COMMISSION SORTING OUT OFFENDERS (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, May 18. Pointing out that the duties of the United Nations’ War Crimes Commission still do not appear to be fully understood, Lord Wright, the chairman of the commission, explains that its principal function is not to try war criminals, but to decide whether prima facie cases exist against persons whose names are submitted. If so satisfied, the commission places their names on lists which are forwarded without delay to the military authorities for their apprehension. The commission’s duties end there apart from a certain advisory function. (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, May 17. Complete sets of Gestapo files have been found in the British Second Army sector, says an American Associated Press correspondent. They will be used against members of the Gestapo at the trials of war criminals.
