THE PROPOSED TRAMWAY

SHELTER Sir,—As a Dunedin citizen and ratepayer I should favour an expression as to the design of the proposed new shelter. The drawing itself may be quite well executed, but the actual design is surelv one from the album of the city grandfathers, and not one -which becomes a city noted for its architecture and fine buildings. This proposal, in the hands of a competent designer, would, without much greater expense, become an edifice pleasing to behold. ■ rather than an embryo which should have existed when Rip Van Winkle was a boy. I trust, then, that ere the corner brick is ceremoniously laid and the back-less furniture duly installed, our Transport Department will be persuaded upon to grace our city with a shelter less void of modern architectural character. —I am, etc..
