THE WRAPPING OF BREAD

Sir, —When one thinks of the flour at so much a lb, the yeast, rents, lates, taxes, insurance, social security, wages, gas, etc., for which a baker has to pay, one realises what a small profit there must be on a3d or s}d loaf. Why he so selfish as to ask these unfortunate people to wrap up the bread in these circumstances while there is a war raging and millions are starving? It is so easy for us to carry a clean towel or paper bag with us. If we wish for our bread to be wrapped, we should be willing first to buy the paper from the shop selling the bread. That would be fair. If force ’’has to be brought in, let every decent person insist on those people who want their bread wrapped up being required to pay extra for the wrapping up.—l am, etc.. Two Sides to the Question.
