ACTIVITY IN ITALY
EIGHTH ARMY IMPROVES POSITION LONDON, Mar. 21. The main activity on the Italian front yesterday was on the Eighth Army sector, where Allied infantry improved their positions north-west of Mezzano on the Ravenna-Farrara highway, says Reuter’s correspondent at Allied headquarters. A number of enemy prisoners were taken. Nearly ,1000 Italy-based Liberators and Fortresses yesterday attacked the Kornburg oil refinery, 10 miles north of Vienna, reports the Exchange Telegraph’s Rome correspondent.' The refinery, which specialises in lubricating oils, was left in flames. Other heavy bombers cut the Vienna-Mumch railway at Weis, and heavily damaged the railway yards at Amstetten and Saint Polten.
