OAMARU RAM FAIR
INCREASE IN YARDINGS The annual ram fair of the North Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association, held at the showgrounds yesterday, proved very successful, the yardings being larger than last year's. Bidding was keen for stud rams, and the majority brought good prices. There was a large entry in the Romney Marsh section. Tile highest price of the fair was 25gns, paid for a one-shear Romney Marsh ram sold by Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co., on account of Mr E. A. D. Robertson, of Conical Hills, Gore. Other prices for Romneys ranged .from sgns to 12gns. There was also a large entry of Border Leicesters, and prices ranged from 4gns to 9igns. Southdowns were also we!) represented, and prices varied from 6gns to 16Jgns. English Leicesters realised from 5 to 7gns, and Ryelands 7J to Bgns. The following is the range of prices:— Stud Rams.—National Mortgage and Agency Company sold on account of Allan Duff. Kia Ora, to J. McCulloch, 1 one-shear Border Leicester ram, 13Jgns; on account of Peter Campbell, Wyndham, to P. Kane, Corriedale, 1 one-shear Romney ram. 21gns; Dalgety and Co., Ltd., on account of P. J. Callaghan, Palmerston, to A. Wilson, Otiake, 1 Border Leicester rani, lOjgns; North Otago Farmers’ Co-op, Association, Ltd., on account of P. J. Callaghan, Palmerston, to J. Nimmo, Airedale, 1 one-shear Border Leicester ram, 6Jgns; on account of estate D. Robertson, Gore, to J. Cartwright, Waimate, 1 one-shear Romney ram, 16gns; Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., sold on accoupt of A. S. Murray, to Mr McCawley, George town, 1 three-shear Romney ram, 81gns; on account of Peter Campbell, Wyndham. to P. Kane, Corriedale, 1 one-shear Romney ram, 21gns; on account of Kennedy Brothers, Windsor, to P. Kane, Corriedale, 1 three-shear Romney ram, 19gns.
