NEW STANDARD RATES
ADDITION OF TWO BONUSES The new standard rates of pay fixed by the Court of Arbitration, with the two cost-of-living bonuses added, bring the hourly rates for adult male workers on a 40-hour week to the following approximate totals; —Skilled, 3s 33d; semi-skilled, 2s lljd to 3s 2d; unskilled, 2s IOJd. The standard hourly rates, fixed by the Arbitration Court in September, 1937, were: Skilled, 2s 9d; semi-skilled, 2s 5d to 2s 7id; unskilled, 2s 4d. The first cost-of-living bonus of August, 1940, increased the rates of remuneration by 5 per cent., making the total rates apDroximately: Skilled, 2s 103 d; semi-skilled, 2s 6Jd to 2s 9d; unskilled, 2s 5Jd. • . The second cost-of-living bonus of March, 1942, amounted to a further 5 per cent, on rates of remuneration, disregarding all over £5 a week in the case of adult male workers, £2 10s in the case of adult female workers and £1 10s in the case of workers under 21. The second bonus brought rates of remuneration of adult male workers on a 40-hour week to approximately the following:—Skilled, 3s Old: semiskilled, 2s 8d to 2s 10Jd; unskilled, 2s 63d.
