KNITTERS’ FINE RESPONSE
At the last meeting of the Women’s Patriotic Committee an interesting report was received from Mrs Woodgate on tne activities of the patriotic wool room. Since reopenirtf! the room 701 b of wool had been distributed, and, including 45 of the polo neck pullovers, 277 garments had been sent forward. Balaclavas were no longer required, but Cranw'ell jerseys, V-ncck pullovers, navy and air force socks, were additional. The following were the seven highest knitting circles on the basis of lbs of wool knitted: —l Special School, 1031 b: 2, Totara, 711 b; 3, Kurow, Gillb: 4 Waitaki Girls’ High School. (331 b: 5 North End Red Cross. 541 b; 6. South Hill Institute, 521 b; and 7, Ngapara. 481 b. Mrs McCulloch, of Ngapara. at the age of 81 years, easily topped the list ol individual knitters.
