AIR FORCE DISPLAY
ACTIVITIES IN PACIFIC There is at present on view at the D.I.C. a comprehensive display of photographs supplied by the Directorate of Public Relations of the Air Department, depicting the work of personnel of the Royal New Zealand Air Force in the Pacific zone. There are 53 pictures in all, both in colour and black and white, and all branches of the service are represented. An accurate survey of the conditions under which the men are working is presented, and in many cases the photography is of such a high order that visitors have been able to recognise friends and relatives in the groups. Included in the exhibition are pictures of the different types of aircraft being used by the R.N.Z.A.F., maintenance repairs by tlie ground staff, and of the native inhabitants of the islands. There is also an enlarged photograph of the repair depot at Hamilton, where damaged aircraft from the Pacific are serviced. A coloured scene of ground staff personnel servicing a Warhawk in the islands is considered to be one of the finest illustrations of the work of the New Zealand Air Force in the Pacific. Every photograph possesses its full share of topical interest, and the reproduction of a high explosive bomb on which are affixed the names of various purchasers of Victory bonds is especially arresting. The bomb was eventually dropped on Japanese-held territory. Many of the pictures were taken under actual service conditions.
The exhibition will be open to the public each day until Friday. A member of the Public Relations Department is in attendance to give any desired information concerning the exhibition.
