PORT OF NAPLES
GREAT VOLUME OF GOODS HANDLED (Rec. 0.30 a.m.) . RUGBY, Oct. 21. Naples is now one of the greatest ports in the world in respect to the volume of goods handled, says an Italian correspondent. During the past year a daily average of 21,320 tons of goods has been loaded and unloaded. Onesixth has been petrol, oil, and lubricants. The correspondent recalls that on October 4, 1943, two days after the entry of the Allies into Naples, the first Allied cargo ship entered mined channels and moored alongside half a quay.
