STRIKING PROGRESS
ALLIED ARMIES IN BURMA ADVANCE BEYOND TIDDIM (Rec. 8 p.m.) RUGBY, Oct. 21. Both in the Chin Hills and in North Burma striking progress is announced by the South-East Asia command. In the west, the British occupied Haka, 50 miles south of Tiddim, and 20 miles south of Falam, the loss of which by the Japanese was announced on Friday. ""On the railway in- 'North Bunina, strong combat patrols occupied Monyhin, over 50 miles south-west of Mogaung and 40 miles north of Kathia, on the Upper Irrawaddy River. Allied fighters made a sweep on Rangoon airfield for the second time in three days. The two attacks, reports a correspondent, coupled with a raid by heavies on Moulmein, the terminal point on the Burma-Siam railway and the chief South Burma port for unloading seaborne supplies from Bangkok and Singapore, are significant as heralding heavier air activity now that the monsoon period has ended.
