STRAND THEATRE
AN EXCITING WESTERN
An exciting Western film, " Romance on the Ranch,” provided the audiences at the Strand Theatre yesterday with a full measure of thrills. Roy Rogers is in the title role, with George "Gabby” Hayes at the head of a talented cast which includes Linda Hayes, Sally Payne, Edward Pawley, Glenn Strange, and Hal Taliaferro. Rogers is featured as the foreman of the Arrowhead ranch, and the story relates to his efforts to track down a gang of fur bandits who have been robbing the trappers who bring furs to the Stuart trading post on Granville. Ironically enough, the secret leader of this gang is Jerome Banning, who manages both the ranch and the trading post for the absentee owner, Joan Stuart (Linda Hayes). The manner in which Banning and his entire gang are finally exposed provides the film with a thrilling climax. The second feature is “ Spotlight Scandals, a gay musical with a talented, versatile cast, including Frank Fay, Billy Gilbert, Bonnie Baker, Butch and Buddy. The final episode of "Don Winslow of the Coast Guards ” is also being screened.
