OCTAGON THEATRE A ROMANTIC DRAMA “The Young Mr Pitt,” a timely romantic drama of a great nation challenged by a power-mad dictator and led by youth to victory, brings Robert Donat back to the screen for the first time since he won the Academy Award for his unforgettable performance as “Mr Chips.” He is supported by a strong cast, including Robert (“Marie Antoinette”) Morley. Phyllis Calvert, and John Mills. “ The Young Mr Pitt ” opened its Dunedin season at the Octagon Theatre yesterday. The picture is full of action, romance, suspense and wit, and affords an intimate view of one of history’s most exciting personalities. Of Donat’s performance, _it is probably correct to say 'that it is his finest on the screen. In Pitt’s life he sensed a great drama and saw a role that was entirely suited to his peculiar and outstanding talent. Morley, as Charles James Fox, the uncompromising foe of William Pitt, gives an impressive performance, and elegant Phyllis Calvert and John Mills acquit themselves with distinction. The box plans are at the theatre and at Begg’s.
