EMPIRE THEATRE
DRAMA AND ROMANCE ■ A fascinating and romantic story is unfolded in “Ladies Courageous,” which was released at the Empire Theatre yesterday with Loretta Young and Geraldine Fitzgerald in the featured roles. The story concerns the W.A.F.S.—Women’s Auxiliary Ferry Squadron—a civilian unit of tne United States Army, later renamed the Wasps. Miss Young portrays Roberta Harper, senior officer of the Wasps, an inspiring young woman whose example saves the lives of other airwomen and preserves the existence of their war-time organisation. One of Hollywood’s most beautiful actresses, Miss Young is among Hollywood’s most gracious personalities. Miss Fitzgerald, the Irishborn London stage star, has a part of great dramatic contrasts. The supporting cast includes Anne Gwynne, Diana Barrymore, Evelyn Ankers, June Vincent, Lois Collier, David Bruce, Phillip Terry, Richard Fraser, and 30 other leading performers. The box plans are at the theatre and the D.I.C.
