INQUIRY INTO SYSTEM
SELECT COMMITTEE APPOINTED (F.0.P.R.) WELLINGTON, Apl. 4. A select committee of 14 members of the House of Representatives was appointed to-day to inquire into and report on all phases of the local government system of thp Dominion, including questions of finance and election and the general structure of the system. The committee, which was given authority to meet at such times and places as it thought fit, is as follows: .The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr W. E. Parry, Messrs H. J. D. Acland (Oppn., Temuka), W. T. Anderton (Govt., Eden), W. J. Broadfoot (Oppn., Waitomo), D. W. Coleman (Govt., Gisborne), R. Coulter (Govt., Raglan), W. H. Gillespie (Oppn., Hurunui), T. H. McCombs (Govt., Lyttelton), R. McKeen (Govt., Wellington South), J. N. Massey (Oppn., Franklin), C. R. Petrie (Govt., Otahuhu), W. J. Poison (Oppn., Stratford), S. W. Smith (Oppn., Bay of Islands), and C. M. Williams (Govt., Kaiapoi).
