SCARCITY OF DWELLING HOUSES

Sir, —All your readers are well aware that the Government has done fairly well in building dwelling houses for a certain .class of people, while the City Council of Dunedin has acted In a similar manner. Old age pensioners, however, are loud and continuous in their complaints that they have been neglected in respect to housing. Both female and male pensioners complain bitterly that they can find lodgings hardly anywhere. It is therefore submitted that the Government and the Dunedin City Council should build suitable huts for those who bore the heat and the burden of the day. These huts, at a nominal rental, should be built in a healthy locality and furnished with facilities for cooking, a bath, lighting, and all the other requirements necessary for comparative comfort. —I am, etc., Dunedin, February 9. Bedora.
