SNOWHITE LAUNDRIES, LTD.
The annual general meeting of Dunedin Snowhite Laundries, Ltd., was held on Thursday last. Moving the adoption of the balance sheet, the chairman said that the year's work showed a profit of £946 2s 6d, compared with a loss of £1703 for the previous year. The profit was credited to profit and loss appropriation account, reducing the debit in this account to £2475 12s. Tlie laundry was now working smoothly, and there was no reason why improved results should not be shown in the future. The chairman drew attention to one matter that was affecting laundries everywhere. Owing to rationing and the shortage of materials, the public endeavoured to obtain a longer life from household linens. There came a time, however, when materials would not stand up to machine washing, and the laundry was being blamed quite unreasonably for damage due to ordinary wear and tear. The public should realise that no responsibility could be taken in cases of this kind.
