The following quotations per 1001 b for beef and per lb for sheep and pigs are supplied by our special representative at yesterday’s Burnside stock sale:— This Last

about 20s per head, and this level was maintained practically throughout, although in places last week’s prices were realised. Poorer clases showed a further decline. The top price for the day was £2B 12s 6d, this being secured by Mrs A. J. Bell (Stirling), the average for the truck being £25 10s. Mr J. Murray (Mosgiel) secured an average of £26 ss, while Messrs E. and W. Johnson (“The Grange," Kaitangata) secured an average of £24 18s. Quotations: Prime heavy ox, to £2B 12s 6d; prime, £2l 17s 6d to £24 12s 6d; medium, £lB 7s 6d to £l9 12s 6d; light, from £l2 10s; extra prime heifers, to £l6 17s 6d; prime, £ll 17s 6d to £l4 7s 6d; medium, £9 12s 6d to £ll 2s 6d; light, from £7 2s 6d; extra prime cows, to £l4 17s 6d; prime, £lO 2s 6d to £l2 2s 6d; medium, £8 7s 6d to £9 7s 6d; light, from £6 2s 6d. Fat Sheep.—There was a large yarding in the fat sheep section, approximately 2700 fat sheep and hoggets being offered. There were a few pens of choice quality wethers, but the bulk of the yarding was made up of ewes, the larger portion being prime quality. Owing to the increased yarding the sale opened under easier conditions for ewes by 2s to 3s a head, and this was maintained throughout. Towards the finish there was a further decline. Wethers met with good competition, and were better by Is 6d to 2s a head. The top price for wethers was 47s 9d .and for ewes 33s 9d. Quotations: Prime heavy wethers, to 47s 9d; prime, 39s to 42s 6d; medium, 34s 6d to 375; light, from 28s; prime heavy ewes, to 33s 6d; prime, 28s to 31s; medium, 24s 6d to 265; light, from 18s; extra prime hoggets, to 345; prime, 26s to 28s. Pigs.—There was a smaller entry of fat pigs and consequently there was a keen sale with a further improvement in prices. The quality generally was good and values fully returned to the level ruling a fortnight ago. Quotations; Extra prime baconers, to £7 14s; prime, £6 4s to £6 15s; medium, £5 5s to £5 15s. The yarding of store pigs was a small one, there being no weaners in the entry. Slips and stores realised from 27s to 355. Store Cattle.—The entry fn this section was only two or three pens of indifferent sorts. Two-year-old steers made up to £7, and a few cows suitable for graziers made from £4 2s 6d to £5. The entry of vealers was somewhat similar to that of last week, and prices were better by 5s to. 6s a head, Best runners realised up to £ll 7s, best vealers to £7 ss. and average sorts from £4 8s to £5 12s. Dairy Cattle.—The entry numbered 45 head, these being mostly backward and indifferent sorts. Good cows, close to profit, were inquired for and realised up td £l2. Ordinary sorts were difficult to sell.
