POWER SHORTAGE

RESTRICTIONS IN THE NORTH (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Apl. 22. “ The power supply position in the North Island again indicates that the available installed plant capacity is already fully loaded and may become seriously overloaded. Great difficulty will certainly be experienced in meeting the demand for electricity during the remaining months of the year and, in particular, during the winter months,” said the electricity controller (Mr F. T. M. Kissel) to-day. Certain restrictions would, of necessity, be imposed, he added, but they would not be of sufficient magnitude to cause any serious inconvenience to consumers. The usual restriction on the use of radiators would apply from May until the end of August. Mr Kissel emphasised that the position was serious and demanded the fullest co-operation of all concerned.
