ENEMY SUBMARINES

ATTACKED IN AUSTRALIAN WATERS (Rec. 1 a.m.) LONDON, May 11. The first announcement of the appearance of enemy submarines in Australian waters was made in a communique issued from Allied headquarters to-day. It says that two Japanese submarines have been bombed and either sunk or damaged by patrol planes off the North-eastern Australian coast. It is also reported that Allied aircraft attacked Japanese seaplanes off the Louisiadc Islands.
