Suspense.— The Native King mare Suspense is reported to be shaping particularly well in her track work. Bayard.—With the assistance of Canton, Bayard was responsible for a strong work-out over two miles on Tuesday. Bronte Eagle. —The Wrack horse Bronze Eagle continues to train on well and should put up a good showing in his next race. Turco.—On his track work the Rey de Oro gelding Turco is expected to shape well in his engagement at Wellington. At Addington. —On Tuesday Nelson Eddy and Burt Scott worked in company over about 10 furlongs. They went at a solid pace and finished well. At Ashburton.— The Ashburton Trotting Club will take entries on February 26 for the Sapling Stakes, Champion Stakes and Futurity Stakes. The club had to abandon meetings owing to the course being occupied by the military authorities, but hopes to carry on. Burt Scott.—The U. Scott gelding Burt Scott, when racing last season as a four-year-old, failed in seven starts. This season he has won five times and been second in six starts. He is on the front in the Summer Handicap on a 3min 24sec mark. He went 3min 19 2-ssec on the first day at Canterbury Park and won on the second day of the meeting in heavy going.
