RICCARTON NOTES
RIDERS FOR MOTUKARARA (Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 4. Motukarara may be the scene of two meetings in the next few weeks. The Canterbury Jockey Club will race there on Saturday, while it is expected that the Banks Peninsula Racing Club will hold its autumn meeting on the usual date, Saturday, March 7. Though Anchorage is in the Middle Park Plate, he is an unlikely starter. He is taking time to mature, but it is hoped that lie will be ready to race In the autumn. He may develop into a useful stayer.
Straight Bat may miss the Lyttelton Plate*.for the Middle Park Plate, in which C. Fox will ride her. A. E, Ellis or L. "J. Ellis will ride Lunaria on Saturday, depending on which race he starts in. On this will also depend which of the brothers will ride Sir Gundi. Court Dress, who/has two engagements, will start in the Trial Stakes, with C. T. Wilson riding. Sally Lunn will not be started in the Halswell Handicap, and L. J. Clutterbuck will rid? her In the Post Handicap. If a good light-weight rider is available. Arctic Dawn will start in the Midsummer Handicap. Failing that, he will run in the High-weight, with his trainer, G. Hidgway. riding C, G. Humphries intends to try King's Toast as p hurdler. He had a little galloping while in F. D, Jones's stable and shaped well. Two races at the C.J.C. meeting at Motu. karara on Saturday may be run in divisions. If this is necessary, the club will add £SO to the stake of each race, making £IOO for the winner and £25 for the second in each division. The Canterbury District Committee has approved of the programme for the Waimate Racing Club's meeting on March 28.
