"ALADDIN"
A good wholesome theatre show will be provided by J. C. Williamson's spectacular pantomime, "Aladdin," or the Wonderful Lamp, which is to be staged at His Majesty's Theatre for a .brief season, beginning on Thursday night ofnext week, with matinees on Friday and Saturday, February 13 and 14; , The box plans will be opened at the D.I.C. on Monday next at 9 o'clock. ;,-. There are 23 scenes/in "Aladdin," few of which are drops, and with child and adult ballets the cast numbers over 100 The latest and up-to-date version of "Aladdin "is full of pep and fun, all of it clean and wholesome and to an extent this is responsible; for the sensational success it is achieving in New Zealand. "Aladdin" contains every form of entertainment for grown-ups, and it cannot fail to be greatly appreciated by children. The Great Levante will make his reappearance here in the role of Abanazar, the wicked magician, in which he scored a decided hit in Auckland. Miss Doris Whimp is said to be one of the most vivacious pantomime " principal boys seen in New Zealand, and Mr Ed, Edwards, who plays the role of Widow Twankey, is a popular-London comedian. Others in the cast include Robert Butt, Ursula Irving. Ronnie Shand, Lawrie Long. Joe Valli, George Corelli, and Spiro. One of the outstanding features is "The Swinging Princess." In a completely darkened theatre the princess of the pantomime (Miss Ursula Irvin?} floats over the heads of the audience, all the time singing, the effect, being amazing. A brilliant team of ballerinas are seen in a series of beautiful ballets, and the artistry; of 20 very "tiny tots" is a feature of the pantomime.
