PRESS TRANSMISSIONS

AMERICA TO DOMINION CONDITIONS UNSATISFACTORY (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Jan. 28. The prospect of press transmission conditions from America to Australia and New Zealand improving appeared only slight, said Mr P. J. Murphy, manager of the Canadian Marconi Company, at Montreal to-day. At present from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. transmission conditions were poor to moderate, but between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. the delay may be anything from 6 to 18 hours before a message even starts on its way. Such delays were difficult to explain in view of the fact that press transmission facilities between America and other parts of the globe were invariably swift and certain, Mr Murphy added.
