OTAGO DEFEATS SOUTHLAND The annual representative draughts match between Southland and Otago took place on Saturday at the Kia Ora Tea Rooms, where onlookers witnessed one of the most interesting contests between the two provinces. The results were as follows: i Otago. . Southland. Wins. , Draws. Wins
The referee was Mr E.* Campbell. At the conclusion of the gams 'Mr Mclntosh, on behalf of the Southland team, congratulated Otago on regaining the trophy. Mr Lucas, on behalf of Otago, welcomed the Southland team, thanked the speakers fpr their remarks, and expressed the hope that their next meeting would not only be as competitive and enjoyable. ■ but would again see Southland the guardians of the trophy!
