FESTIVAL OPENS TO-DAY
The Dunedin Competitions Society’s fortieth annual festival will commence to-day, and the official opening will be performed by the Mayor, Mr A H. Allen, at 7.30 p.m. To-night’s programme should prove a most interesting; one, as it includes juvenile and secondary school choirs, children’s action choruses, tap and bail dancing, contralto and bass solos, songs for girls, recitations, and piano solos. The day sessions will commence at 9.30 a.m.. and will consist of recitations at the Victoria Hall, instrumental solos, trios, and quartets at the Concert Chamber, and songs for girls nd boys in the Theatre, as well as tap dancing and contralto solos. „ . Admission to the day sessions, will be 6d, and the evening prices will be. 2s and Is. children half-price.
