Patriotic • Committee. —At the last meeting of the Outram Patriotic Committee it was decided to make a house-to-house canvass during August for the Air Raid Relief Appeal. It was also decided to change the meeting night to the first Monday of the month., - . Lady Galway Guild.— A parcel of children’s clothing and a dozen quilts have been forwarded by the guild for despatch overseas. A plentiful, supply of wool has been received by the Knitting Guild. St. John Ambulance. —At the last lecture given to the Home Nursing section Dr Wylie made presentations to Mrs Hyslop and Miss Hyslop. He expressed the regret felt by all members at losing such good members. Thirteen members entered for the Home Nursing examination and the following were successful: Mesdames J. Marshall, Geddes, Wright, Irving, J. Bathgate, Misses M. Hyslop, M. Hendry, C. Lindsay, F. Nicol, Messrs G. Grant, G. Bathgate, M. Bathgate, and G, Fleming. Five Guides have also qualified for their preliminary Home Nursing certificates, Three of the voluntary aides have now completed two weeks of their night training in the Dunedin Hospital. Home Guard. —The Home Guard's rifles have been sent into the armoury for inspection. It is hoped to obtain some ammunition when they are returned and shooting practice will be carried out at a range on “The Downs ” property. Mounted Rifles. —The local troop continues to meet in the A. and P. Hall on Saturday nights, when instruction is given in signalling, map reading. etc. It is hoped to undertake night marching shortly.
