BATTLE FOR DAMASCUS CAPTURE EXPECTED SOON LONDON, (Rec. 1.30 a.m.)' June 15. Free French headquarters announced in London to-day that the entry of the Free French forces into Damascus is expected shortly. This announcement was based on information received from Jerusalem. SINKING OF AMERICAN SHIP REPRISALS URGED (Rec. 1.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 15. Reprisals for the /sinking by a German submarine of the United States ship Robin Moor are urged in several leading American newspapers. '\ ! One newspaper stated that the freedom of the seas had been challenged by piracy and urged that the United States* should sink German submarines and surface-raiders at sight as a reprisal for the attack on the Robin Moor.
AMERICAN SHIPYARDS GREAT BURST OF ACTIVITY '(Rec. 1.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 15. A statement By the United States Maritime, Commission reveals that this year a million and a-quarter dead-weight tons of shipping will be completed in American shipyards. This figure will be increased to 3,500,000 tons next year and 5,000,000 tons in 1943. A total of 705 ships have been built or are being built in United States shipyards under contracts at a cost of £325,000,000.
