AUCKLAND CATHEDRAL
COMPETITION FOR DESIGN THE PLACINGS ANNOUNCED (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph-Copyright) . LONDON, Feb. 10. The award of the Sir G. G. Scott competition for' the design of the cathedral in Auckland was announced to-day. The first prize of £IOOO goes to a Sydney man, Mr Charles Towle; the second, of £4OO, to the Aucklander, Mr Amyas D. Connell, resident in England; the third, of £2OO, to the Aucklanders, Messrs Fergus and G. F. Sheppard: and the fourth,' of £IOO, to the Aucklanders, Messrs Donner and Bartlett. The designs are now being exhibited in the High Commissioner's office in the Strand. Mr Connell, who is a Rome scholarship winner, practises here with the Wellington., man, Mr Ward.
